 I fell in love with my Pink House the first time I saw it and bought it straightaway. However, it needed work – but how much? It was crucial for me to get some idea before becoming too committed and Tania was on hand to take a look. I was amazed how quickly I got a quote AND a deadline date for the work .
Moving to Bath wasn’t just a change of address for me it was a lifestyle change and getting the house right was crucial for me feeling at home in a new city. This was further complicated by the fact I had to complete on my London flat at exactly the same time as the work ended on the Bath house and I didn’t really know exactly how I wanted the house to look and changed my mind constantly. It was a fairly major job – painting top to bottom, rewiring, new lighting, re-carpeting – a fairly extensive face lift. So much could go wrong.
Design and Build kept me calm, made sense out of my suggestions and employed the nicest and most accomplished of craftsmen. I could never have found these men on my own using ‘Yellow Pages’. They project-managed and coped fantastically well with the challenges that met us at every corner. My cynical London friends never thought they would complete the work on time and on budget but I never doubted they would such was the confidence they inspire.
I completed on my London flat in March and moved to Bath where Tania was even hoovering in anticipation of my arrival. Seeing the completed house for the first time and the quality of the work will always be one of the best moments in mylife so far. The house looked exquisite. And as if that wasn’t enough, they were at the end of the phone for me to ring should any small or major problems arise so I had the comfort of knowing I had a safety net in those early days.
I have no idea how they manage to do such a great job when other builders fail so badly but the important thing is that they do and I lucked out the day I found them.
Would I recommend them? In an instant! And I have done. I can’t praise them enough! I wish Design and Build could organise my life as well as they did my house. But don’t let too many people find them, as small companies often suffer when they over-stretch – so let’s keep them a bit of a word of mouth secret.
